The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) is pleased to announce the hosting, on the island of St Lucia, of its 16th Annual Conference, to be celebrated as The W Arthur Lewis Centennial Conference, over the period January 14-16, 2015, under the theme Towards Caribbean Prosperity and Happiness in an Equitable World. The Conference is part of a series of events to mark the Centenary of Sir Arthur’s birth in St Lucia on January 23, 1915. The deadline date for the submission of abstracts is July 31, 2014. U.S. Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean "Urban Visions" Video Competition September-October 2011
What is urban culture? Skateboarding, hip-hop music, urban dance?
The U.S Embassy of Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean is encouraging Caribbean citizens and youth to “Show us your urban vision!” Make a video about urban culture on your island and compete to win an HD Flip video camera!
Rules: No incitement to violence, no profanity, no pornography, and no commercial promotion.
Eligibility: Participants must be both a citizen and a resident of Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Dominica or Antigua and Barbuda. Participants must be under the age of 26 on October 14, 2011.
Timeline: All entries must be received by noon Eastern Daylight Time on October 14, 2011 to be considered.
Prize: A selection of finalists will be chosen by the United States Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. These finalists will be featured on the Embassy’s Facebook page from October 17, 2011 through October 21, 2011. The video entry with the most Facebook likes by noon Eastern Daylight Time on October 21, 2011 will be determined as the winning entry. The winner will receive a Flipvideo UltraHD 8G that records two hours of video.
How to submit: Post your video on You Tube, and send a link to your video to BridgetownPublicAffairs@state.gov. In your email, please include your full name, date of birth, school or university, home address, nationality, and phone number.
